EXCELLENT, Nancy!
Considering the human attributes you've given Lilly the Cow, do you have further thoughts on who the narrator in "My Recent Escape" might be? I purposely left out pertinent details.
Thanks!
my recent escape from a home beloved was of sheer and unqualified necessity.
my people and i have been overtaken by a scorpion race of alien malefactors whose intent towards us is not one of beneficent intervention, but that of utter conquest.. if it were only the mere subjugation of a weaker species, we might have acquiesced, although begrudgingly.
however, the terrifying reality enjoined upon us proved to be the conquerors' brusque insistence that their insatiable hungers be satisfied with our quailing flesh.

these are of early '70s vintage, i recall.
my job was to sort through thousands of these and be sure they were not "off register.".

Greetings, darksilver, sparky1, and Mandrake:
My, you are helpful with both pertinent info and personal anecdotes! I really appreciate your replies. The original oil paintings hung on walls of Brooklyn Bethel.
Best wishes.

It was "speculated" that the beautiful lady descending into the water is Damaris, the man plunged, Dionysis, the plunger, Paul the Apostle. A very talented Bethel sister, whose name I don't remember, was the artist.
Now that I think about it, didn't Paul write that he did no baptizing at all?
THOUGHTS???

Escape from Jerusalem [this is definitely off-register -- I'm no photographer]:

These interlopers, these transgressors of a most cruel and avaricious sort, have invaded my world.
Alas, my escape from this nightmare -- from which there will be no awakening -- has been conjured up in my mind. I grieve that kith and kin do not possess the incipient mental devices of escapism that I have owned since the womb. We have all of us been jailed, but I suffer less than they. . . .
Damn . . . damn these invaders from Earth.

it appears that new light might be coming down the pipes that beards are acceptable.
Wonder how photo of me, CC, got re-posted one hour ago . . .
My Canon shot me funny during that particular selfie session.

Was Jesus a redhead?
the sea once held this youngster's heart within its mighty bosom.i loved and cherished the sea, stretching outward beyond infinity.
i took to the e'er dreary landscape, the dank surroundings soothing me, enveloping me in crawling mists that were more welcomed to me than the evaporating rays of a cavorting summer sun.i, however, am no longer that pensive lad who found comfort in the dark and cold and deep blue sea.
today, a man in the physical sense, i no longer possess that childlike fascination with my former abode.
Looks good, darksilver!
Many thanks for reading "The Sea" and for sharing the link to Bond's play.
Best regards . . .
i've pushed an update to the image handling so they are now served using the webp format if the requesting browser supports it.
currently that is chrome, opera and android mobile but safari is adding support in the next version and there's hope that firefox and edge will get on board soon.. read more about webp.
webp is a newer image format that can replace jpeg, gif and png but with much better compression rates for the same quality.
Thanks, Simon, for what you are doing. It's much appreciated.
Regarding an earlier post about abrupt changes in JWD on my Apple (at the time of your converting to https), my DELL (Chrome) shows everything on JWD: images, avatars/names, reply box, etc. I learned how to resize photos with Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Apart from each page's loading slowly (pc issue), DELL and Chrome like JWD!
On the other hand, more and more sites are becoming unavailable to me with Safari (Apple) because I cannot upgrade although the prompt is there. JWD, as ever, is not interactive, there are no images, etc. Firefox, the same.
There's nothing on your end to help because my Mac stubbornly refuses to cooperate. The only good part is that the pages load fast and I can zip through the reading part.
Guess I have the best of both worlds considering I'm using 2 very old hand-me-down laptops.
THANKS AGAIN!
